Graphite scrap

Graphite scrap consists of used and worn-out graphite components, electrode remnants, and production offcuts.

The mechanical strength of graphite is influenced by temperature.
The main sources of graphite scrap are the electrometallurgical industrytransportation, and mechanical engineering sectors.

The specifications for technical graphite in Russia are regulated by TU 1911-109-73-2000,
which defines physical and chemical properties (such as density, hardness, electrical conductivity, and thermal stability), as well as testing methods, labeling, and packaging.

Grade A graphite scrap is considered high-quality and is used in the production of high-temperature electrodes and other products that require high thermal stability.

Grade B graphite scrap refers to medium-quality waste, commonly used in the production of lubricants and other items with less demanding thermal requirements.

Graphite scrap is also classified by particle size, such as:

  • Fine-grainedgraphite scrap: 1 to 1 mm
  • Medium-grainedgraphite scrap: 1 to 5 mm
  • Coarse-grainedgraphite scrap: 5 to 10 mm
